Prince Harrys moving tribute to Diana will bring a tear to your eye

The Duke of Sussex has paid a moving tribute to his late mum, Princess Diana. During the Sussex Royal Tour, Harry opened up about how much Botswana helped him cope with the sudden loss of his mum. The prince, who was only 12-years-old when his mum was tragically killed, went to Botswana to escape the media frenzy after Diana’s death.

He shared, “Fifteen years I've been coming here, it's a sense of escapism, a real sense of purpose. I have some of my closest friends here and I came here in 1997 or 1998 straight after my mum died, so it was a nice place to get away from it all.”

To honour his mum and her legacy, Harry visited a de-mining site in Dirico, Angola, to raise awareness of the danger and prevalence of landmines that still exists today.

Harry assisted The Halo Trust in their work to help clear the area to enable safe access for the local community.

Later today, Harry will visit Angola to retrace his mother’s steps to see the legacy of her work and how her connection with this community helped make the elimination of landmines a reality.

During his visit, Harry will walk along the street which was once the minefield where his mother was famously pictured. There’s no doubt it’ll be an emotional moment for the dad.

“The Duke is humbled to be visiting a place and a community that was so special to his mother, and to recognise her tireless mission as an advocate for all those she felt needed her voice the most, even if the issue was not universally popular.”
