Parents everywhere know what it feels like to be exhausted as baby doesn't sleep through the nigh - but we weren't expecting this.

According to research done in Harvard University, the reason for baby's crying during the night may be to stop you from procreating any further!

The study was published in Evolution, Medicine and Public Health by David Haig and explores the reasons behind babies crying.

As Haig says: "It's clear that babies can get enough milk if they sleep through the night. The waking becomes a different issue ... I'm suggesting that offspring have evolved to use waking up mothers and suckling more intensely to delay the birth of another sibling."

The study claims that the reasoning behind baby crying at night is that there won't be any chance for mom to have sex as she will be tending to the crying baby and so the birth of another sibling is avoided. Clever little babies!
