Cutting It star Sarah Parish lost her daughter Ella-Jayne back in 2009 when she was just eight-months-old - she had been diagnosed with Rubinstein-Taybi syndrome.

Describing her daughter as “too perfect almost” following her birth, Sarah said that Ella-Jayne had to undergo an emergency heart operation shortly after being born.

Sadly, Little Ella-Jayne spent four months in hospital before Sarah and her husband James were allowed to take her home, where they “had to keep her alive” with a multitude of medicines.

The youngster tragically passed away in January 2009 after spending her first and only Christmas with her family.

“That day she took every single bottle, gulped it down,” Sarah told The Times.

“We were like, ‘Oh my God, this is it. You’ve done it.’ She’d got the strength. She died that night.”

Talking about her daughter’s short time on Earth, James said that they were just in a state of shock the whole time.

“We were in a state of shock from the moment she was born to the moment she died,” he explained.

“You don’t know what’s going to happen from one hour to the next. Every morning we’d go in, and it is exhausting staring at your child who’s very sick.”

However, Sarah and her husband have shown true strength as they refused to let their daughter’s death have been in vain.

The couple, who also have a six-year-old daughter, Nell, are now planning on building a new £2 million trauma centre at University Hospital Southampton with funds raised through the Murray Parish Trust.

Revealing how she wouldn’t change a thing, Sarah said that every time someone makes a donation she thanks Ella-Jayne.
