A company, which has recently come under fire for selling a babygro which references negative body image issues, has hit back at their critics claiming the design was 'ironic'.

Wry Baby has faced criticism from many corners after releasing a design aimed at infants which boasts the caption: "I Hate My Thighs."

The design has shocked members of the public and has been slammed by various media outlets, with the senior editor of Ms. magazine, Michele Kort, saying: "Theres something icky about projecting fat awareness on babies. The Wry Baby website says this is a 'tiny statement regarding self-image.'"

Disputing the company's stance, Michele goes on to say: "Actually, it's a pretty large statement for a 10- pounder to be making- a harbinger of things to come later in a child's life, especially if that child is a girl."

In an attempt to both appease the situation and placate their critics, Wry Baby have removed the design and replaced it with a piece which promotes a positive body image, which sports the caption: "Love Me For My Legrolls."

Responding to the controversy, the company said: "We couldn't agree more about body image. That's why we made an ironic joke about it. Obviously no baby would or should hate their thighs!"
