Many Irish beauty salons grew into massive impersonal businesses during the days of the Celtic tiger - they added on extra treatment rooms, bombarded you with marketing messages to get you in and you left feeling empty, devoid of pampering or being well looked after.  Customers were just people on a conveyor belt that were treated and moved on and I had a feeling that many beauty salons had lost their heart.

My opinion was changed on a recent trip to the new 'Skinscape' salon in Blackrock. The salon itself is very chic and is a lovely little gem in the heart of Blackrock.  The owner is Riogan McClelland who not only has years of experience to really understand what women need and want but who also brings a very warm and personable touch to the salon. She is friendly and chatty and yet, when you don't feel like talking, she is quiet as a mouse.  Sometimes, it's nice not to have to discuss where your holidays and Riogan recognises this with natural applomb.

The team work hard to look after their customers and offer late night opening hours from Tuesday to Thursday in the lavish salon setting to help you relax and enjoy being pampered. The expert and friendly staff recognise the importance of good grooming and so understand the needs of every customer with fully trained therapists delivering top tips to keep your beauty regime on trend and the latest in skincare.

When I tried out the salon, I opted for ‘Time Expert’ Facial by Germaine de Capuccini which is the nearest thing to having Botox that you can get without going near a needle.  The treatment is proven to be the most effective alternative to Botox and collagen, lasts for 70 minutes and is exclusive to Skinscape Salon in Ireland. The facial was extremely relaxing and the result is a non-red, glowing face which I swore was 'plumper' afterwards. My sister said I looked great which is always nice to hear and she didn't know that I had had a facial.  In addition to your everyday salon favourites such as waxing,  tanning and massage therapies, they also offer Applisonix ultrasound hair removal which is great for downy hair removal and Gelish 3 week nails which have the added benefit of looking less false and raised than the Shellac offering.

Skinscape have committed to providing their clients with an unforgettable experience whether you require pure relaxation or something more clinical. They provide you with a luxurious experience that doesn’t break the bank all the while fitting glamorous treatments into your daily routine.

MummyPages was a guest of the salon - the facial was provided free of charge but no payment was made for this review.
