Is it teething time for your little one?

If you’re anything like us then you probably feel as though you’re working with minus-minutes when it comes to making dinner. Sure, you had great intentions of making an elaborate meal for your beloved family, but after the school run, football practice, the doctor’s appointment and several other things, the day was over before it even started.

Birds Eye’s new innovative Steamfresh range offers a collection of vegetables, pasta and rice side dishes that you can cook in the microwave in minutes.

The range uses (can we just saying ‘genius’) steaming bags, which lock in the flavours and ensure your food is cooked perfectly every time.

What’s the catch? There isn’t one.

As well as a range of single-serve vegetable and rice sides, such as their Hearty Farmhouse Mix, there are also brilliant sharing bags, like the Cantonese Vegetable Rice. This means you have helpful options when you want to feed the whole family and others when you’re just trying to cater for one fussy eater.

And in case you need some inspiration, we’ve picked out a couple of our favourites from the range and turned them into easy-to-make (quick) family meals for those evenings that you just don’t have a second to spare.

Steamfresh Creamy Cheese Penne Pasta

For the perfect winter dinner, this penne pasta with peas and broccoli in a creamy cheese sauce is an absolute must. To really make this meal your own, try combining with fried pancetta (bacon will also do!) or your favourite chicken dish if you have a little more time – the family won’t be able to resist.

Steamfresh Mediterranean Vegetable Pasta

This penne pasta has been combined with Mediterranean style vegetables in a tomato and basil sauce. While it could hold its own as a tasty vegetarian lunch, you can add a poached fillet of salmon to add an extra depth of flavour and fill it out for dinner.

Happy cooking!
