Step into a world of pure imagination as Bord Gáis Energy Theatre return to Bord Bia Bloom

Bord Gáis Energy Theatre is delighted to announce a return to one of the nation’s favourite summer events, Bord Bia Bloom. For 2023, the theatre has collaborated with a team of creative horticulturists to bring a delectable, musical-themed garden to life inspired by the new production of the West End and Broadway smash hit Charlie and The Chocolate Factory - The Musical which will have its Irish premiere from 05 December 2023 for five weeks only.

Visitors to Bloom will be able to visit The Charlie and The Chocolate Factory The Musical Garden over the June bank holiday weekend at Phoenix Park, from Thursday 01 June to Monday 05 June 2023. Taking inspiration from the award-winning musical the garden is a vibrant representation of The World of Willy Wonka.

Designed by Tom Leavy, the garden, which plays on elements of the stage musical blends the magnificence of the theatrical world with the beauty of the natural world to create a visual spectacle for the senses. Inspired by the scrumptious storytelling by Roald Dahl, this garden of pure imagination invites us into Wonka’s factory. Featuring a pathway to a chocolate river, sculpture, colourful textiles, and bountiful planting, the garden promises to captivate young and old alike.

A key feature within the garden is the introduction of edible and incredible plants inspired by Wonka’s inventions. These plants have been chosen specifically to exhibit edible and medicinal uses, highlighting their practicality as well as their natural beauty. Visitors to the garden can gain inspiration to create a holistic landscape within their own gardens while growing nutritional food in a creative and visually appealing way.

Charlie and The Chocolate Factory The Musical plays Bord Gáis Energy Theatre from 05 December 2023 – 07 January 2024. Tickets from €26.50 are on sale now through Ticketmaster.
