We often see actresses on TV with wonderfully straight and sleek looking hair, or we come out of the hair dressers with hair that we wish we could replicate at home. Well, it is possible! Follow these simple steps to get the straight hair look from your own home. It may take a few goes before you get it exactly how you want it, so keep trying.
- Towel dry your hair, gently blotting it to remove excess water. Hair should be damp for this process, not dripping wet.
- Use a heat-protective serum on your hair; this will prepare it from the blasts of heat that might otherwise damage the follicles.
- Using your fingertips, apply a ten cent sized dollop of straightening balm evenly through your damp hair.
- Clip the top section of your hair up, part a line around the back of your head from ear to ear.
- Further separate and divide the lower section of the hair into smaller parts getting ready to dry one bit at a time.
- Begin blow drying section by section at a high heat and fast speed. Use the nozzle of the dryer to blow hair downwards from the roots towards the tips.
- Using a boar bristle brush (if possible), brush down the sections of your hair as you are drying it.
- Each section should be brushed and blow-dried, with each worked on until it is totally bone dry.
- Once you’ve worked on the lower hair sections and are satisfied that they are dry, start on the top parts of the hair in the same way as before.
- Use a silicone-based gloss through your straightened hair to give it a shine that you’ll be proud of.
Following the above tips should give you a great salon look but without the cost.
