The National Emergency Coordination Group (NECG) will meet this afternoon to discuss Storm Callum.

Concerns are growing as Met Éireann issued an orange weather warning and the group will evaluate the risk of opening schools tomorrow.

They're worried that storm damage could potentially impact a number of schools' ability to open in certain areas.

Winds of up to 130 km are expected to batter the country tonight.

The NECG are expected to meet at 3 pm in Dublin today and the committee is made up of key groups including; Met Éireann, local authorities, the ESB, OPW and government.

The extent of Callum's destruction will only be known at daylight tomorrow.

Officials can only assess the knock-on effect it has on daily activities, such as transport.

Due to this, schools and business owners have been advised to keep up-to-date with weather forecasts.

It is believed for now, that decisions around school and road closures will be made on a local level, rather than nationally.
