The best summer style combines comfort and coolness, and your beach sarong is one of the lightest, chicest and most versatile wardrobe staples this season. Here are three tricks to get the most out of your favourite poolside attire.

1. Maxi skirt

While a sheer sarong is great for the beach or the pool, a piece with a thicker material will make for the perfect do-it-yourself maxi skirt. Simply pull the sarong out, wrap it around your waist, and tie securely. Then, team it with your favourite flip-flops and vest top, and you are good to go.

2. Halter-neck top

Take your sarong and wrap it around your body, bringing the top corners to the front and crossing them over. Grasp the corners, twisting the ends slightly to create the straps. To finish, simply bring the ends up around your neck, tying in a knot at the back.

3. Cocktail dress

Take the sarong and wrap it around your body, bringing the top corners around to the front and crossing them over. Unlike with the halter-neck style, where you twist the corners to make straps, leave the edges of the sarong thick as you bring them up around your neck and tie them at the back. Simply add a belt at the waist, and team with your favourite heels and cocktail rings, for a classy summer night out.
