There are many incredible milestones in every child's life which a parent will celebrate alongside them.

From their first word to their first step, each moment is hugely significant in the life of both the child and the parent, but some 'firsts' can be taken for granted.

As parents we focus on particular milestones and not many of us wait to experience the moment our will child hear for the first time and take in the sounds right around them after a duration of prolonged silence.

For Ahavah Cook from Minnesota, watching her nine-week-old son hear for the first time with the help of tiny hearing aids was moving in the extreme.

Opening up about the moment little Eliljah, who was diagnosed as profoundly deaf at birth, finally heard his mum's voice, an overwhelmed Ahavah said: "I was trying really hard no to cry. I didn't want him to see me cry. I was trying hard to keep it together and just talk to him."

Have a look at this beautiful moment between a doting mum and her newborn son.
