A 17-year-old girl has been commended for her contribution to the redesign of a family room in a leukaemia ward at the Mercy University Hospital Cork.

Talented Emma O' Callaghan came up with a circus theme after winning an online competition

Helping to make Emma's ideas a reality, a team of professional designers from Optimise Design worked on the room which is used by those attending the hospital and seeking treatment.

Furniture company DFS sponsored the project and the newly designed room has been met with much enthusiasm.

Mum Therese Crowley from Bandon said the room will be a welcome addition to families spending time in the hospital.

Well done, Emma!
