Yet another breastfeeding shaming video has emerged and this time we see a mum being verbally attacked while feeding her daughter in a Target café.
Jesse Maher posted the shocking video on Facebook in which a man started saying, amongst other things:
“Can’t you do that somewhere else?”
Telling the woman her behaviour was “disgusting” and “nasty”, other members of the public began to step in and defend the mum.
One woman reassured Jesse saying:
“You shouldn’t be ashamed of feeding your baby, okay? He can go the other way. This is a beautiful moment right now, if he doesn’t like it he can go.”
Eventually, Target staff members stand to defend the mum and escort the man from the store.
Filming the encounter, Jesse posted the footage on Facebook where it has been viewed by nearly seven million people.
With a lot of praise coming from those who stepped in including the staff at Target who formed a barricade between Jesse and the man.
Target’s employee manual specifically states that customers may breastfeed openly in their stores and were quick to defend Jesse’s right to breastfeed in their stores.
“He kept saying, ‘It’s your right to nurse wherever you want here.’”
At the end of the video, one woman makes a heartbreaking point.
Shouting "All the war in the world that's going on" and this is still what people chose to get upset about.
