If you’re mum to a teen, then you’ll probably be well aware of all the changes they go through.
One of those changes can be a sudden disinterest in activities they used to love.
Many go from being active and energetic kids to just wanting to stay in their rooms on the computer.
This can have a major impact on their health and fitness levels, and that’s before you factor in their increasingly picky diet.
It can be easy for your teen to slip into bad habits and talking to them about it is not always easy.
Suggesting a trip to the gym is sure to go down like a lead balloon, so why not sign them up for one of these classes instead.
Building their fitness regime around being social can help make them feel at ease.
Here are five activities that we’re sure your teen will love.
1. Rowing
Rowing can help maintain a healthy balance of fat mass and fat-free mass in your body. It’s classed as an aerobic sport, so you can easily burn up to 600 calories in an hour.
Rowing can also do great things for your lung health. It increases your lung’s ability to provide oxygen to the blood, heart and body.
Rowing clubs are becoming increasingly popular, and are a great way of keeping fit and making new friends.

2. Golfing
While it may not sound like a full body exercise, golf can do a whole lot of good for your fitness.
From walking your way round an 18-hole course, to the upper body strength a good swing can provide, there’s plenty to say about this so-called ‘lazy man’s sport’.
A game of golf can take up to four and half hours, so it's also a great way of getting them out of the house and getting their heart rates up.

3. Dancing
Dancing is the perfect combination of exercise and fun.
No matter what style you pick, you’ll be burning calories from the get-go and having fun while you’re doing it.
This is an increasingly popular option for teens, and network of friends they can make is a huge reason why.

4. Cycling
If you’re just a short drive from their school, why not save yourself the added journey and ask them to cycle to school.
It’s a great cardio workout and will have a huge benefit on their joints and muscle strength.
They’ll also love the independence their solo trip to and from school will give them.

5. Pilates
Pilates is becoming an increasingly cool way of getting your exercise in.
Not only is it the new it-exercise, it’s also amazing for your core muscles and flexibility.
Pilates can improve your joint, back and brain health, and of course, burn those nasty calories – win!
