Triton has just launched the new T90 ER, and it's a significant one. The T90 has been one of the most popular electric showers on the Irish market for years — selling close to 60,000 units annually — and this is its first major overhaul in a decade. The update brings a completely modernised look, some serious internal engineering improvements, and a genuine commitment to sustainability that goes well beyond slapping a green label on the box.
Whisper quiet (finally)
The headline feature — and the one that will genuinely matter to anyone who has ever tried to shower without waking the whole house at 6am — is the noise level. The T90 ER uses an integrated pump driven by a Quiet Mark-approved motor, meaning the unit itself is virtually inaudible over the sound of the running water. For early risers, shift workers, or anyone whose toddler finally, finally went back to sleep, this is not a small thing.
It's designed specifically to boost water pressure in gravity-fed systems, which covers a huge number of Irish homes. So if your current shower has the pressure of someone blowing through a straw, the T90 ER is worth a proper look.

The design details that actually matter
Aesthetically, Triton has made some smart calls. The new cover design is clean and unfussy — a simple indented centreline, a timeless silhouette that aligns with what the brand calls its Visual Design Language. It's the kind of thing that photographs well and doesn't look dated in three years' time, which matters if you're investing in a bathroom renovation.
The controls have been rethought too. The power button, hose attachment and a single-colour graphic system are designed to reduce the guesswork between temperature and power settings. The knobs themselves have been redesigned to offer a much more solid grip than the recessed versions on older models — a small thing until you're trying to turn the temperature down with wet hands at 7am.
Perhaps the most notable design decision is the complete removal of chrome plating from the product line. In its place, the T90 ER comes in Matt White with gloss white trims (easy to clean — important) and a Matt Black with brass trims for a more premium finish. Both options have a modern, considered feel without veering into anything too trendy.
The updated Pro-fit Riser Rail has also ditched chrome in favour of a double-polished stainless-steel finish. At 530mm in length, it's designed to cover existing drill holes from previous installations — a genuinely practical touch for anyone doing a like-for-like replacement without wanting to retile.
The sustainability piece
Triton has put real work into the environmental side of this launch. All power-carrying cables have been upgraded to high-grade silicone insulation, with wire thickness increased from 2.5mm² to 4mm² to significantly reduce overheating risk. A new internal drip shield and a dedicated wire retaining wall have been added during installation. The stabiliser valve has a new core profile that eliminates flow rate dead spots. These aren't marketing points — they're engineering decisions that should make the product safer and longer-lasting.
The T90 ER will also ship in eco-friendly, single-colour printed brown boxes rather than the heavily printed packaging typical of the category. Triton has had the full lifecycle carbon footprint of the shower independently verified by ClimatePartner, covering manufacture, transport, five years of consumer use, and disposal. They calculate that a family of four could save over €260 by reducing average shower time by just three minutes — along with 20,814 litres of water and the carbon equivalent of driving 1,850km.
