The arrival of a baby is always special for a family and their loved ones, and always deserving of a special announcement – in some cases, in the form of a billboard!

This was the case for South Carolina couple Will and Kelen Settle, when they recently welcomed their baby girl into the world.

Little Carter Louise Settle’s arrival into the world was extra-special for Will and Kelen, as she is the first girl to be born into the Settle family in 137 years!

The Settles and their loved ones were ‘shocked’ when they discovered the news, but they were even more surprised when they discovered what Will’s colleagues did for them, to celebrate.

The team at Will’s company, Marlin Outdoor Advertising, took out a 12-foot-high and 24-foot-wide billboard to mark Carter’s arrival.

“Welcome to the world, Carter Louise Settle,” read the billboard, coloured pink and featuring a photo of the yawning newborn. How adorable?!

The billboard was set up along a highway in South Carolina, for Will and Kelen to see as they made their way home from the hospital with their bundle of joy.

Opening up about the moment he discovered the incredible gesture, proud new father Will told ABC News: “When I first saw it, it was an ‘Oh my God’ moment. It is so pink, so large!

“I’m spending a lot of time at home, so I’m not doing my usual sales route. The owner of the company said, ‘There’s a surprise for you between Bluffton and Savannah.’

“He wanted me to drive down to Savannah and then turn around. The billboard is about half-way. It’s right on the road.”

Wow, what a way to share your amazing news with the world!

Will gushed over the special new addition to the family, admitting that they chose the name ‘Carter’ to give her a ‘strong’ start in life.

“She’s going to have to be strong, with all the men she’ll deal with in the Settle family!” he joked.

Meanwhile, Carter’s middle name, Louise, was chosen to honour mum Kelen’s childhood nanny.

In a world where gender reveals are now being carried out through sky-dives and using drones, we’re not in the least bit surprised by this turn of events.

Congratulations to Will, Kelen and their family on the arrival of little Carter Louise.
