Dublin’s biggest and best Festival of Irish Traditional and Folk Music, TradFest Temple Bar, celebrates 10 years this year and there will be plenty of performances to mark the occassion.

 

Running from Wednesday, 28th January until Sunday, 1st February there will be performances featuring young people from all over Ireland, a ‘Family Hub’ at The Ark to include a family Trad gig from KÍLA, a children’s crafts club and an eclectic gig mixing hip-hop beatboxing and trad, as well as the ChildVision petting Farm, Clayotic workshops and children’s Céilí to name a few.

Free family concerts at City Hall

Over 2 days, there will be fantastic music, song and dance in the iconic City Hall. There will be performances by members of Comhaltas, Latvian dance schools and a special performance by The Carty Sisters and 2014 Siansa Gael Linn Winners ‘Íontas’.  

 

Free Children’s Open Trad Session Sat., 31 Jan and Sun. 1st Feb 12pm – 2.30pm. 

Children who can play a tune on the fiddle, bodhrán, harp, concertina, or any instrument at all (even non-traditional instruments) are welcome to come along and give trad a try. Not suitable for beginners. Suitable for ages 6yrs+. Places will be allocated on the day based on availability. Please see ark.ie for more info.

 

Free Children’s Craft Club Sat.,  12pm – 5pm and Sun,  Feb 1pm – 5pm

All crafts sessions are inspired by the colours, stories, songs and creatures that live in the mysterious sea around our magical island of Ireland. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Suitable for ages 4yrs+

 

ChildVision Petting Farm Sat., 31st Jan and Sun., 1st Feb 12pm – 5pm

ChildVision, Ireland’s education centre for blind children, are packing up their cuddliest and friendliest pets from their petting farm and bringing them into Temple Bar for TradFest.

 

Clayotic Workshop Sat., 31st Jan and Sun., 1st Feb 12 - 1pm

Taking place in Filmbase, each participating child will make their own unique model inspired by a traditional Irish theme. This workshop promises to be loads of fun and a great creative outlet for the little ones. Booking is essential so email admin@templebarcompany.com
