Now in its third year, The Boyne Valley Food Series will once again be celebrating Ireland’s culinary region of Meath and Louth.

 

This year’s programme of events continues to bring together the best chefs, farmers and food producers in the region to serve up an extended summer of family activities.

 

Highlights include A Taste of the Boyne Valley, the Irish Maritime Festival in Drogheda and the Happy Bird Workshop, events that will be running from June until August.  

 

1. A Taste of the Boyne Valley 

This event will feature a host of local food producers as well as talks and demonstrations from Diarmuid Gavin on his Harrods garden from the Chelsea Flower Show. There will also be lots of entertainment for children.

Where: Kilsaran Home and Show Gardens in Dunboyne

 

2. Irish Maritime Festival 

The Irish Maritime Festival in Drogheda includes a dedicated food hall with artisan food and drink producers and a demonstration area will include cocktail making masterclasses, cookery demonstrations, gin-making and kids classes.

3. Happy Bird Workshop

Here you can spend the morning on the farm and gain an insight into free range poultry production including turkey, goose and chicken. You can also learn about feeding, housing and regulatory aspects of keeping a few chickens or starting out a small poultry business.

Where: Maperath Farm, Kells, Co Meath

 

4. Fun and Educational Family Day Out 

Pack a picnic and head along to find out about the abundance of local foods which made the neolithic people thrive in the Boyne Valley; explore beautiful Dowth Hall and its lands with their henge, burial tomb and mysterious mound.
