Kimberley Gordon or known by her parents as “little Flash Gordon” has become famous across the world for her static hair, as well as her miracle birth.

Kimberley was born prematurely during an emergency C-section, when her mum was struck by lightning on July 4th last year.

But despite it being a year since the incident, little Kimberley has had static hair ever since.

Kimberley’s dad said his girlfriend Kendra Villanueva, was two weeks from her due date, when the couple – and their unborn baby – were hit with the bolt from the blue during a rainstorm.

It is believed that the flash of lightening went through Ian’s ear, before going through Kendra’s body and leaving through her thumb.

The couple were rushed to University of New Mexico hospital ,where Kendra was induced and gave birth to her baby girl.

A year on, baby Kimberley has neurological damage from the lightning strike and can’t sit up, crawl or digest food properly yet. Doctors say they’re unsure when Kimberley will start to achieve these milestones, as well as to why her hair is still static.

But Kendra and Ian are relieved that there little girl survived the lightning strike.

“Everybody we’ve seen says it’s a miracle she’s alive. She’s just kind of a play-it-by ear baby.”

Ian also revealed that the medical technician who treated the couple at the time of the strike said that there have been 11 incidents on record ever of a pregnant woman getting struck by lightning. Of those 11, he said that only half of the newborns survived.

“Somebody’s definitely watching out for us,’ says Ian, who now harbours hopes that his miracle mini ‘Flash Gordon’ will grow up to ‘run fast, or save the universe.”
