Makeup artist, blogger and mum-to-be Tara Anderson is glowing. She's awaiting the imminent arrival of her first baby boy and the Trilogy Skincare ambassador sat down with MummyPages to reveal just exactly how she got that blooming skin (she cites one particular product as her skin saviour), told us about her pregnancy experience and revealed why she can't wait to be a mum.

Why did you want to work with Trilogy, in particular?

I have been a big fan of the Trilogy brand for a number of years now. I have raved about the Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil constantly online as it has genuinely made a difference to my skin. I was so delighted to be asked to work with Trilogy and it was a perfect fit for me as I had already been using the body oil on my bump for a few months.

What are your favourite products from the range?

The Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil will always be my star product as I use it on myself every day and also use it on nearly every client I have. I find it amazing to use to prepare the skin for makeup, it absorbs into the skin giving it a quick boost of hydration which makes makeup application so much easier. I also love the Exfoliating Body Scrub and use that about twice a week and of course, the Pure Plant Body Oil has been a firm favourite since becoming pregnant, I use it on my bump every night.

How important are natural skincare and products for you and your growing baby bump?

When it comes to shower gels, moisturiser, body oils and body scrubs I have been a lot more selective about what I am using. Especially now that my bump is so much bigger I feel like I have to be so gentle with it as the skin has been stretched so much. My skin has definitely been more sensitive than normal throughout my pregnancy which is very common, so I am using only products with gentle ingredients that won’t aggravate it.

What are the benefits of bump massage?
It has become quite a ritual for me every night. I keep the Trilogy Pure Plant Body Oil beside my bed and massage it into the skin for a few minutes. So many women suffer from pregnancy insomnia so I find doing this really relaxing. Also because the skin on the bump has been stretched so much it can feel quite tight and itchy so massaging it with the Trilogy Pure Plant Body Oil gives instant relief and is really soothing.

How has your skin changed during your pregnancy?

My skin has definitely become more sensitive throughout my pregnancy which is very common. I have had so many pregnant women contact me about skincare and body care and I always recommend patch testing any new products you are using on the skin especially when pregnant. Obviously with the surge of hormones I have been prone to getting breakouts too.

What tips would you give pregnant mums about skincare, and in general?

I would recommend sticking with as many natural products as possible and avoid products with parabens or harsh chemicals. Definitely make sure to wear a high SPF daily as your skin can be more sensitive to the sun too. I have gotten a small bit of pigmentation on my cheeks which is a first for me, it is known as the ‘mask of pregnancy’ and again is quite common.

How have you found your first pregnancy?

As it is my first pregnancy I have nothing to compare it to but for me, it has been really lovely. I had morning sickness for the first few weeks up until maybe week 16 and once that stopped I got my energy back and felt so much better. Obviously now I am 38 weeks pregnant so my bump is heavy and I definitely don’t have as much energy as normal but I feel so healthy and lucky that I have had such a nice pregnancy.

What are you looking forward to about being a mum?

That’s something I haven’t even thought of, I suppose watching our little boy grow and develop and seeing his little personality. I am so excited to see what he looks like and what traits he will get from each of us.

What are your best beauty tips in terms of the Trilogy range - why would you recommend it to all women from a young age?

As I said earlier, the Trilogy Certified Organic Rosehip Oil is an amazing preparation for your skin before make up. It literally acts as a drink of water for the skin and instantly visibly hydrates it. You can apply the most expensive foundation to your skin but if it is dehydrated you will not get a good result. Preparation is so important so once the skin is cleansed I highly recommend a couple of drops of the oil massaged into the skin.

How are Trilogy products different to others?

The products really do speak for themselves, anyone I have recommended Trilogy too has fallen in love with the brand. Aside from the products themselves I am also a big fan of Trilogy’s ethos with their recyclable packaging and their ethical trade practices. They are always looking for ways to give back to the planet!

If you were to advise women to do just one thing, in terms of skincare - what would it be?

No matter how busy you are you should always make time to cleanse and moisturise each morning and night. It genuinely makes such a difference to the appearance of your skin. Also products aside it is so important to eat lots of fruit and vegetables and drink plenty of water to feed your skin from within.
