Grey’s Anatomy has caused us too much heartache in the past but we’ll always love the medical drama series. We’ve been fans of the show since it first aired way back when in 2005 so saying goodbye to Grey’s Anatomy won’t be easy.

Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital holds a special place in our hearts, as does the cast of the show, especially Ellen Pompeo.

Star of the show Ellen Pompeo has been playing the passionate and determined surgeon for 13 years now but she isn’t ready to hang up her scrubs just yet.

Ellen gushed about the show’s success in an interview with The Ellen Show: “I’m completely obligated to do Season 16 and these numbers, there’s just no end in sight, with streaming and the show is so popular,” she shared

There’s no doubt the show has succeeding year after year, even if we waved goodbye to many popular characters including Ellen’s on-screen husband Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey.)

Ellen explained that the touching storylines and diverse characters are the reason she’s stuck around for so long.

“I've got to keep doing it, man, because we’re touching lives and making a difference,’ she explained.

We have certainly lost quite a big chunk of the original cast, but we have so much love for the Grey’s Anatomy gang, including Bailey, Karev, Jackson and Amelia.

Grey’s Anatomy fans will be so relieved to hear we still have a few years to go until we have to bid a fond farewell to the medical drama.
