There is a lot of scare mongering nowadays, when it comes to sharing photos of your children online, but if you do it in a safe way then you shouldn’t have any problems.

Here are some tips on how to enjoy sharing those precious moments with your nearest and dearest:

Private albums
If you have hundreds of friends on Facebook, you probably won’t want to share family photos with all of them. The best way around this is to set up a private album, where only selected people can view the photos.

Keep in mind what’s appropriate
While you may find the photo of your baby splashing around in the tub adorable, your baby might not think so when he or she is older. Try not to post any photos that might embarrass your little one when they grow up.

Avoid sharing personal details
It’s a good idea to watch out for things that might give out too much personal information in photos, such as where you live or what your routine is.

Don’t rely on Facebook
There are other, more private, ways to share photos online with faraway family. Dropbox is a free ‘cloud’ storage system that lets you store files and then send a link via email to whoever you want to share witth. But remember if you don’t want that person to put any of these pictures on Facebook, tell them this before you start sending on any of these images. Once you send the files to someone else, they're out of your control.
