Tributes pour in following the death of 7-year-old Fionn Doyle

Seven-year-old Fionn Doyle has tragically passed away after a five year battle with cancer.

The young Cork boy captured the hearts of many during his harrowing fight against leukaemia.

It is believed the youngster spent his final Christmas with his family before passing away on the night of December 31.

Tributes have been pouring in since news of Fionn’s untimely death.

Speaking to the Irish Examiner, the local Parish Priest, Fr Eamonn Kelleher said: “The whole parish of Kildorrery kept Fionn and his family in their prayers. There is just a great sadness that has descended on Kildorrery at the news."

The charity Little Blue Heroes tweeted: “Our hearts are saddened to hear the loss of one of our Little Blue Heroes last night, 7-year-old honorary Garda Fionn Doyle.

“Fionn fought so bravely every step of the way against cancer. In police work, we talk about bravery, honour and courage and Fionn exemplified all of that,” they wrote.

Eoin English of the Irish Examiner said: “I met Fionn in August. I will never forget him. Rest in peace little man. My thoughts are with his family and friends today.”

Kildorrery GAA Club added: “Condolences from all in Kildorrery GAA to the Doyle family on the passing of Fionn.”

Fionn will be laid to rest on January 3. His family have asked for donations, if desired, to be made to Children’s Leukaemia Association.

Our thoughts are with Fionn’s parents and his family during this devastating time.
