A two-year-old girl has tragically died after she was found critically injured in an apartment in Cork city this morning.
Emergency services were called to the apartment at 5.18 am this morning. The toddler was rushed to Cork University Hospital with serious injuries but sadly passed away at 9.20 am this morning, according to RTÉ.
According to reports, the young girl suffered blunt force trauma to the head and body.
Gardaí are currently investigating her death. Two apartments in the Ballintemple area have been closed off and a technical examination will take place today. Members of the Garda technical bureau are at the scene.
No arrests have been made at this time.
