The Westport Festival of Music & Food has teamed up with ChildVision, the National Education Centre for Blind Children, as their official charity partner for 2013. ChildVision will be at the festival in Westport House on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th June. Music fans will have the chance to experience the buzz of the festival blindfolded, putting themselves in the shoes of someone who is visually impaired during the ChildVision Blindfold Challenge.

Festival-goers who participate in the ChildVision Blindfold Challenge will have to wear a blindfold and be guided around the music and food festival by a sighted partner. Each pair will be taught now to guide each other and blindfolds will be available from the ChildVision marquee in the Food & Wine village.

Those who take part will be in with a chance of winning a place at “The Chef’s Table” in the Food & Wine Village and experience food prepared by Ireland’s top chef’s including Derry Clarke (L’Ecrivain), Ross Lewis (Chaper One), Dylan McGrath(Fade Street Social), Richard Corrigan (Corrigans), Kevin Dundon (Dunbrody House) and Oliver Dunne (Bon Appetit).

The Food & Wine Village, hosted b TV & Radio presenter Norah Casey, will bring together some of Ireland’s finest chefs and restaurateurs for a series of culinary demonstrations. Norah says “We’re creating a little village dedicated to the ‘Best Food from the West’.  An amazing array of food producers will be rocking up to produce the most exciting and vibrant foods this region has to offer.”  Additional features will include a Pop-up Pub, Seated Area and a Wine Bar.
