Fevers can be a huge worry for parents and while many can be looked after at home, sometimes they can become serious. Contact your doctor immediately if you are worried about any of the following:
  • Your child is less than a year old, especially when he or she is less than 6 months
  • Your child have developed worrying signs such as confusion, neck stiffness or a rash (remember ‘the glass test’ for meningitis)
  • Your child has difficulty breathing or is dehydrated.
  • Your child’s fever won’t subside.
Remember you know your child best, so if you think they are unwell, or if you are worried in any way, always speak to your doctor.
