A woman from Vietnam has made headlines around the world today, after giving birth to a child – three years after starting menopause.

According to reports, the unnamed 58-year-old approached Hanoi’s Andrology and Fertility Hospital last year, in the hopes of conceiving.

Despite doctors’ initial belief that she would not be able to conceive, she underwent IVF and went on to have a healthy baby girl.

The tot weighed in at 7lbs 1oz, and both mother and child are said to be doing well.

The latest report comes just three months after a 72-year-old Indian woman gave birth, some 20 years after going through menopause.

Daljinder Kaur and husband Mohinder Singh Gill welcomed a son back in April, after undergoing IVF.

The couple’s news split opinion online at the time, with many people branding them ‘selfish’ for bringing a child into the world at such an old age.

What are your thoughts on undergoing IVF at an older age? Would you ever consider it yourself, even after menopause?
