When you're expecting a child, you often don't think beyond your pregnancy and birth when it comes to health worries, but there was something very unexpected in store for mum Deborah Nabbs last year.

The 36-year-old - from Wolverhampton, UK - has spent the past 18 months fighting a rare pregnancy-related illness, choriocarcinoma, whereby her placenta became cancerous.

Deborah was first diagnosed just weeks after son Lewis' birth, when she began haemorrhaging heavily. After being tested, she was diagnosed with the extremely rare form of cancer, and was left fighting for her life at one point.

While doctors initially feared that Lewis may also have developed the illness, he was given the all-clear, and Deborah began a gruelling series of chemotherapy treatment.

After undoubtedly one of the most difficult years of her life, Deborah this week shared some wonderful news - she is now cancer-free and looking forward to living her life to the fullest.

Speaking to The Mirror, she said: "I know that if I hadn't been pregnant with Lewis I wouldn't have had cancer, but I'd go through it all again if it meant having him."

What a brave and inspirational mum; she is in our thoughts at this time.
