Priscilla Chan and her husband Facebook co-founder Mark Zuckerberg welcomed their first child, Max, less than a year ago, and are clearly loving life as a family of three.

However, while it’s all smiles now, Priscilla admitted that it hasn’t always been this easy, going on to recall her struggle to get pregnant, something the couple documented on Facebook.

“Sharing our experience with pregnancy was incredibly important because we realised how challenging and difficult that was and there are really dark moments where you think you’re alone,” she said while speaking to Today’s Savannah Guthrie.

“We realised that we weren’t and that there were other people travelling along the same road with you. I think having that, knowing that you’re not alone, was incredibly important for us. And we wanted others to know that they weren’t alone either.”

The couple went on to welcome Max in December of last year, and after their struggle to conceive, are enjoying watching their little girl grow up:

“Mark and I are just over-the-top proud of everything she does. She could be eating. She could be spitting. She could be sleeping. She could be just smiling and we’re, like, ‘Oh, isn’t that special?’”

And even the paediatrician in her can’t dull the incredible milestones that her little girl is going thorough, the proud mum-of-one said.

“As a paediatrician, I have to say, that is just normal development, there is nothing special about it,” she said of her daughter.

“But as a parent, everything is the most — it’s a miracle.”

“You just love that little being so much, more than you ever thought was possible,” she continued.

“And you have so many hopes and dreams for that child. And that drives me to want to work harder and invest now to make sure that the future is where it needs to be for all of our children.”
