Some of our favourite family activities are listed below.

The Hotels own Fairy Garden

Ireland is long since known for fairy tales and the Woodford Dolmen has been chosen as the home of King Oran, Queen Tianna and their daughter Orla with the Magical Fairy clan. The fairies made their home in the hotel gardens and christened it ‘An Draoicht Glen’. With picnic benches & seating areas, mums, dads & grandparents can enjoy a coffee & chefs chocolate biscuit cake while the kids search for the fairies in their homes among the trees and hedges, before treating them to an ice cream on their special toadstool seats.

Castlecomer Discovery Park

Only a little over 30 minutes’ drive from the hotel , Castlecomer offers a day of adventures. Facilities include walking trails, boating, and fishing on the lake, high-ropes and other adrenaline-inducing activities, a fascinating multi-media coal mining museum, craft workshops, Elf & Fairy village, and café. Ask at the hotel for a packed picnic to bring with you & keep you fuelled for the days activities.

Chocolate Garden of Ireland

Just 20 minutes from the hotel, in the neighbouring town of Tullow, one of our guests favourite places to visit, is the Chocolate Garden of Ireland. Learn all about cocoa, chocolate making and have a go at being a chocolatier yourself! The Chocolate mould making workshops are very popular and should be booked in advanced. The Chocolate Garden also has a play area, trail, Wendy house and sandpit for kids to play in while you relax with a chocolatey treat.   The Chocolate garden is adjacent to Rathwood, so a full day out can be planned between both.

Rathwood

Uniquely combining retail and leisure, there is plenty to keep everyone entertained. Take a trip through the woods on the Rathwood Express Train. Venture into the maze of Ireland where you can test your knowledge of Irish geography to help you find your way out to discover the playgrounds swings and slides.  Rathwood also has a Deer park and magical walks through the forest. Theres something for everyone to do.

Graiguecullen Swimming Pool

Facilities include a 25m swimming pool, toddler pool and viewing area for parents. For adults, there is also a sauna, steam room, and a coffee dock.
