Having a baby is a HUGE life-changing experience, and one that requires a pHD!

But, despite all the sleepless nights and stressful tears (from both you and Baby), they are AMAZING and worth every single premature wrinkle on your face.

However, while there is no denying that it is extremely tough, having a few tips and tricks up your sleeve will make it a lot easier!

1. If you’re breastfeeding, use a cold compress to help ease any soreness.

2. For engorged breasts, try placing a heating pad on your breast.

3. Take care of yourself as well – Baby needs a well mummy just as much as they need that bottle of milk.

4. Avoid over-thinking about the fact that you’re getting very little sleep, it will pass but the stress of constantly analysing it won’t help.

5. Enlist the help of family and friends – this way everyone will get to have a cuddle and you’ll get to rest.

6. Nap when your baby naps or at least sit down for a few minutes, especially in the early weeks.

7. Don’t stress about whether you are doing it right or wrong – if Baby is happy then that’s all that matters.

8. Warm up the wipes and cream before putting it on their tiny bum – it will stop the nappy changing meltdowns... hopefully.

9. You’ll never get a shower so bite the bullet and take a bath together – it’s the only way you’ll get clean!

10. Don’t hover around when someone else is holding your baby, they’ll never call again!

11. Ignore any unwanted advice, even if it is well-meaning.

12. Accept any and all help – it will soon die down so make the most of it!

13. The last thing you want is to get stuck indoors so spend some time outside of the house.

14. Try to take things as they are - embrace the chaos!

15. Always have your nappy bag at the ready – the last thing you want is to run out of the house and forget it!
