A new season doesn’t just call for a new wardrobe, and, for many women, getting a new hairstyle is often the preferred way of embracing the change in weather.

If you are considering getting a warmer colour for winter, there are a number of things you should consider:

Is your hair already dyed?
If your hair is already dyed, it is important you go to the hairdressers to get it redone, especially if you are going from blonde to brown. This is because, depending on the base colour, your new shade might turn a out very different to what you think it might look like.

Think about the up keep
If the colour you are going for is significantly different from your own, you may have to get it touched up regularly. Think about this before you make the full commitment as it can be expensive going to the hairdressers regularly.

Try it out first
When you finally decide on a shade, try it out before you go permanent. Try a wash out colour as it will give you an idea of how your new shade will look, with you having to commit to it.

Think of your skin tone
Always keep in mind your skin tone when deciding on a colour. If you are pale, avoid going for a shade that will wash you out.

Go a shade lighter
If you are going to be doing it yourself at home, always choose a shade or two lighter than what you want as it will come out darker than the picture on the box.
