An expectant mother who was rescued in the Mediterranean has given birth to baby boy on board a search and rescue vessel.
The MV Aquarius took 678 people on board in the space of two days including pregnant Cynthia.

Thanks to the assistance of a midwife who was also on board, Cynthia successfully gave birth to a baby boy named Favour.

Favour was born weighing 6.8lbs on December 11 and has now arrived on the coast of Cantania, Sicily.
Vessel operators, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) say that more than 4,650 people have died or gone missing in the Mediterranean Sea this year, the highest number since records began.
