Her choice of baby name for her newborn daughter has certainly split opinion, particularly among the MummyPages readership, and Blake Lively has finally dished on why she opted to call her little one ‘James’.

The star, who is currently on the promotional trail with her new movie, Age of Adaline, opened up on the baby-naming process during an interview on Good Morning America.

Chatting to the show host, the 27-year-old revealed: “It’s a family name, and I liked having a boy’s name.”

While husband Ryan Reynolds has been keep us well entertained with his hilarious anecdotes about being a new dad, Blake proved that they share the same sense of humour during another interview, on Live! With Kelly and Michael.

When host Michael Strahan commented how Ryan had smelled of baby powder the last time he had visited the show, Blake responded: “Now he just smells like poop…He’s in full diaper duty. He likes the big ones because they’re easier, so her diapers are, like, up to her chest!”

Blake and Ryan welcomed baby James back in December, with the couple remaining incredibly private regarding their daughter’s name in the following months. Ryan later confirmed James’ name during an interview with Today.
