Having a baby is a life changing experience, there is no denying that! 

 

And while it is sure to change you as a person – the way you think, the things you prioritise – not everything has to be different.

 

If you are feeling a little lost and are trying to find ‘me’ again after giving birth, the following tips may help you rediscover yourself.

 

Do things on your own

While you'll no doubt want to spend every minute of every day with your baby, it is important for you to get out of the house on your own. Whether it’s just a run, or a coffee with the girls, not having to focus your mind on when to feed baby or if they are comfortable will help you feel a little more relaxed, which will ultimately benefit you and baby when you do go home.

 

Do something just for you

When was the last time you did something just for you? Go to the gym, start a hobby, join a class or go to the cinema with your friends, whatever will make you happy and is just for you.

 

Pick up where you left off

Ok, we know things are never going to be the same again and your all-nighters are a thing of the past, but that doesn’t mean you have to say goodbye to your old life completely. If you were interested in photography or love shopping on a Saturday morning, go back and pick up where you left off. Sometimes you might have to bring baby along on your shopping trips, others times you won’t but either way you will be able to channel your old you as you do something that you used to always love.

 

Get in touch with your friends

It is easy to let friendships fall by the wayside after you have had a baby, but once you are settled into a routine, it’s time to pick up the phone and have a good old natter with your friends. Not only will this help you reconnect with the old you, but it will also help to relieve stress, thus positively affecting your home life.

 

Listen to old music

Music is great at reviving memories from the past. Make a playlist of your favourite tunes from your pre-baby days and either introduce them to your little one or have a get-together with friends. You will be back to feeling you before you know it.
