While she may have blasted rumours that she was expanding her brood last month, it looks as though Madonna was giving us the run-around!

The star, 58, has just adopted twin sisters from Malawi.

The Material Girl singer confirmed the news in a touching Instagram post, sharing a photo of herself and her daughters walking hand-in-hand.

“I can officially confirm I have completed the process of adopting twin sisters from Malawi and am overjoyed that they are now part of our family,” she wrote.

“I am deeply grateful to all those in Malawi who helped make this possible, and I ask the media, please, to respect our privacy during this transitional time.

Thank you also to my friends, family and my very large team for all your support and love!”

The star’s legion of fans were quick to share their messages of congratulations and love, wishing her ‘lots of happiness’.

It is believed that Madonna’s formal application for adoption was approved in New York, on Tuesday.

The star is, of course, already mum to four children: Lourdes, Rocco, David Banda, and Mercy James.
