Rumours have been circulating for weeks about the gender of Kate and Prince William's second child, but it looks like the Duchess of Cambridge has dropped a fairly big hint in recent days.

If the colour of her recent paint purchases are anything to go by it seems baby George will be welcoming a little sister into the life he shares with his doting parents.

Having ordered three tins of sample paint from designer interior company, Annie Sloan, Kate has certainly suggested that she may be decorating a nursery for a baby girl.

Having decided on lilac, pink and aubergine to try out in their ten-bedroomed home on the Queen's Sandringham estate, the royal couple have certainly gotten tongues wagging!

The gender of the baby, who is due in a mere three weeks, is not the only topic of conversation in recent days, with much speculation going into the name they royals will choose for their new arrival.

While Alice, Victoria and Charlotte are firm favourites with the bookies, we wonder if Kate and William will decide on one of the beautiful names given to the shades of paint they chose!

In which case, George may soon become the proud big brother of a little Henrietta, Antoinette or Emile.

We'll just have to wait and see!
