He may be one of the most popular musicians in the world, but Rod Stewart prefers to stay out of the spotlight when it comes to his family life with Penny Lancaster.

The couple broke tradition today, however, in honour of a very special celebration: Rod’s knighthood.

The Maggie May singer happily posed for photos outside Buckingham Palace today, supported by wife Penny and their two sons.

So proud!

The 71-year-old rocker was positively beaming after receiving the honours from Prince William.

Sons Alistair, 10, and Aiden, five, looked equally as delighted in a shot that doting wife Penny shared to her Instagram account.

“So proud!” read the simple caption on the photo, which received plenty of love from Penny’s 18K-strong Insta following.

Thank you to the public, who helped towards Rod receiving this wonderful Honor today at the palace.

The 45-year-old went on to share adorable footage of her family riding in their car, on the way into the Palace.

“Thank you to the public, who helped towards Rod receiving this wonderful honour today at the Palace,” wrote Penny.

Rod’s knighthood follows nearly 60 years of success in the music industry.

What a gorgeous family! Congratulations, Rod.
