We have some sad news to report this afternoon, as it has been announced that Ken Barrie, who played the original voice of Postman Pat for years, has sadly passed away.

 

His daughter Lorraine Hulme Peterson told BBC News that her father died at his home in Uxbridge, London following a short battle with cancer.

 

 

Ken brought joy to the lives of many children over the years as he voiced not just Pat, but also Ted Glen, the Reverend Peter Timms and farmer Alf Thompson.

 

He also sang the show’s theme tune which spent 15 weeks in the top 75 after it was released as a single. Ken was the voice of Pat for the first four seasons before reprising his role in the 1990s and 2004.
