She recently announced that she is expecting her first child with her husband, but actress Casey Wilson has opened up on how her excitement at impending motherhood has been tinged with sadness.

Having lost her beloved mother eight years ago, the Happy Endings star has revealed that knowing her mum won’t be around to meet her little one has been difficult to come to terms with.

“It’s simply not the experience of knowing your mom is going to come out for two months and help take care of the baby,” said the 34-year-old.

Casey told Fit Pregnancy magazine that these feelings came into play when she found out the sex of her unborn child with husband David Caspe, admitting that she was ‘relieved’ when she found out she was expecting a son.

“I thought I wanted a girl, but I almost felt relieved when I found out I was having a boy. Having lost my mom, and having had such a close mother-daughter relationship, I felt like somehow, I wasn’t ready for a girl,” said Casey.

With her due date set for May, Casey went on to show off her blooming baby bump in a series of stunning photos for the publication.

We’re sure many mums out there can identify with Casey’s point of view. We wish her all the best of luck with the rest of her pregnancy.
