We don't have too long to wait until the Duchess of Cambridge gives birth to her second child, and with her due date fast approaching, plans for marking the royal baby's arrival have been unveiled.

According to reports today, the second child of Prince William and wife Kate will be celebrated with the release of a new £5 coin.

As fourth-in-line to the royal throne, the commemorative coin will give a special acknowledgement to the prince or princess.

The plans follow a similar celebration for Prince George's birth in 2013, with the Royal Mint producing 10,000 solid silver crown-sized £5 coins. At a cost of £80 each, it appears that this was one for the die-hard collectors!

The Duchess herself confirmed last week that her second child is due in 'mid- to late April', although she has continued to make a number of official appearances as part of her royal duties.

A number of publications in the US released false reports last week that the Duchess had already given birth to the baby, claiming that she had experience a 'dramatic delivery'.

It's going to be an exciting few weeks!
