Ever since learning the news of his arrival, and even getting the first snap of the gorgeous little fellow earlier today, we have been eagerly awaiting the announcement of the name of the latest addition to the Royal family of Sweden.
Happily, this evening, King Carl Gustaf of Sweden himself has shared the name of Princess Madeleine’s second child with husband Chris O’Neill.
The King made the big announcement at a cabinet meeting this evening, revealing that his new grandson has been named Nicolas Paul Gustaf. He also went on to share the little Prince’s new title – Duke of Angermanland.
While the inspiration behind naming him Nicolas is not yet known, it is believed that the inclusion of the name Paul is a tribute to Chris’ late father, Paul Cesario O’Neill.
Little Nicolas was born on Monday, June 15, just two days after Princess Madeleine attended her brother’s wedding.
Just this morning, officials shared the first photo of Prince Nicolas, the tiny tot looking adorable as he sleeps in a grey outfit.
The caption read: “Princess Madeleine and Christopher O’Neill’s son. Princess Madeleine has left the hospital and is now at home with the whole family.”
Once again, huge congratulations to the happy couple on their wonderful news.
