We are all told that motherhood is one of the toughest jobs we can do, but it seems to be a breeze for singer Carrie Underwood.

The country singer, who gave birth to her first baby, Isaiah Michael, nearly four months ago, has spoken out about how being a mum is not exactly what she thought it would be.

The 32-year-old admitted to People magazine that she had prepared for the worst, saying: “I think I honestly expected — it’s gonna sound weird — but I expected the worst [sic]"

Speaking at the CMT Music Awards, the mum-of-one went on to explain: “I’ve never been around babies before, to be honest, but he’s so laid-back!”

Expecting a screaming baby, the See You Again singer and her husband, Mike Fisher, have been pleasantly surprised by just how easy their son has been since his birth,

“We’re laid-back parents and he’s a laid-back baby and … it surprised me that it’s a little easier than I thought it was going to be. I think I just expected, like, screaming, crying baby all the time, and he’s just happy and smiley and gorgeous,” she said.

The proud mum went on to reveal when her little one was most happiest: “In the morning, when he first wakes up, he’s the sweetest. He’s a morning baby. He is smiley and laugh-y and happy and cuddly and that hour, the first hour he’s awake, is just the best.”
