His first thought as he owned up to a horrific lie was with his children this week, but it looks like this star’s career is set to suffer majorly in the wake of the scandal.

Just days after admitting that he lied about experiencing and surviving the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Centre, actor and comedian Steve Rannazzisi has already lost one major role.

The League star has reportedly been dropped from his high-profile advertising gig with restaurant chain Buffalo Wild Wings.

A representative for the company issued a statement today, saying: “Upon careful review, we have decided to discontinue airing our content television commercials featuring Steve Rannazzisi.”

Rannazzisi previously claimed that he was working in the World Trade Centre “when the first tower got hit”, and claimed that the life-changing experience drove him on to move to LA and pursue his passion in the entertainment industry.

However, in a candid social media post this week, the 37-year-old admitted that he had made the whole story up and had finally decided to come clean.

“After I moved with my wife to Los Angeles from New York City in 2001, shortly after 9/11, I told people that I was in one of the World Trade Centre towers on 9/11. It wasn’t true,” he tweeted.

The doting father added: “I have wished that, with silence, I could somehow erase a story told by an immature young man. It only made me more ashamed. How could I tell my children to be honest when I hadn’t come clean about this?”

Buffalo Wild Wings is the first company to publicly sever ties with Rannazzisi, but many predict that others will follow suit.
