As a doting mum-of-one, it was with a very heavy heart that this star recently revealed how it is unlikely that she will ever conceive naturally again.

Now, presenter and acid attack survivor Katie Piper has opened up about her fertility struggles and the difficult choices that brought her to this point in her life.

Having previously told The Times that she didn’t expect to conceive daughter Belle due to her circumstances, the mother-of-one spoke candidly on Lorraine today.

“I never thought I’d be a mother anyway. I had a choice back then – between taking drugs to save my eyesight – drugs that meant I would become infertile – or conceiving,” she told show host Lorraine Kelly.

The 31-year-old also revealed that she is apprehensive about telling daughter Belle about how her scars and ailments came to be.

Of her nasal inserts, which help her to breathe, she said: “She tried to fiddle with them. She often touches the skin on my chest where I’ve had skin grafts.”

“I know I will have to talk to her at some point, but I am really concerned about what I will tell her. How can I explain to a child what happened to me, her mother? I don’t want her to know about the rape and the beatings and the attack. It’s too scary,” she said.

Katie recently admitted that she and her fiancé are considering adoption, to expand their brood.
