Fans the world over were deeply shocked when they announced their intention to part ways after 13 years of marriage, and it looks as though there may be drama ahead for this famous couple.

Just days after the surprise announcement that Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale are to split, a source has claimed that they are set to battle it out in the courtroom over their finances.

The source told RadarOnline that mother-of-three Gwen is adamant that Bush singer Gavin will not get half of her fortune.

“Before Gwen and Gavin got married, her business advisers recommended they get a prenup, but Gwen balked and didn’t think it was necessary because this was going to be forever,” the source said.

Gwen has amassed an estimated $120 million fortune from her music career and entrepreneurial work, and the insider added that she has moved to protect herself financially in the wake of the split.

“Gwen has really struggled with the idea of just handing over half of her hard-earned money to Gavin, and there is a lot of anger there. Gwen is hoping to just pay Gavin off because she doesn’t want to pay him any type of support. Gwen’s approach is that she should get to keep what is hers,” the source added.

The pair announced their sad news on Monday, saying in a statement that they have ‘come to the mutual decision that they will no longer be partners in marriage’.

While the reason behind the split is not yet known, speculation is rife that Gwen suspected Gavin of having an affair.
