The star, famed for playing the role of Schmidt in the comedy show, is expecting his second child with wife Tess Sanchez.
A representative for the couple confirmed the news to People magazine, but the pair have remained tight-lipped as to whether they are expecting a daughter or a son.
The couple, who wed in 2008, are already parents to five-year-old daughter Lily.
Gushing about his role as a father, the 34-year-old actor previously said of his daughter: “She’s the best. She keeps a lot of it grounded. You come home, you’re like, ‘Whatever, let’s go hang out!’”
He added that while his little one has started recognising him when he comes on TV, it has become a normal part of life in the Greenfield household.
“I don’t know that she fully gets it. She knows that I’m on a TV show, she’ll be like, ‘Daddy, you play Schmidt.’ There’s a big part of me that’s very proud of it and goes, ‘Daddy’s really happy’, but another part that’s like, ‘Just stay away from that as long as you can.’ But she seems unfazed by it,” he added.
