Nicole Richie, who shares two children with husband, Joel Madden, is reportedly contemplating divorce after attempting to salvage her relationship with the Good Charlotte musician.
According to In Touch Weekly, all is not well in the Richie/ Madden camp, with a source close to the couple revealing: "They're on the brink of divorce."
33-year-old Nicole, who is mum to seven-year-old Harlow and five-year-old Sparrow, is said to be struggling with the contrast between her parenting approach and her husband's.
Revealing that animosity has stemmed from their diverse attitudes, the insider goes to to say: "Nicole's been on a health kick and wants the kids on the same diet. But when Joel's around, he lets them have candy and juice boxes and whatever they want- it makes her furious."
Admitting that the couple are struggling to remedy the problems they are experiencing, the source admits: "They've been spending more time apart because all they do is fight."
It appears that the couple's family dynamic is the sole reason they have remained together, with a report stating: "If it wasn't for the kids, they'd be divorced already. Nicole's already trying to hang on for their sake, but she's at her breaking point."
Nicole and 36-year-old Joel, who began dating in 2006, tied the knot in December 2010.
