Spending the night cosied up on the couch watching a movie is one of the most magical parts of family life in our house.

With movie nights come traditions, no matter how big or small.

From ice cream sandwiches to matching pyjamas, so many memories are made while sitting in front of the TV watching the classics.

1. The new jammies

Is it really a family evening if you don't all have fancy new PJs to wear in front of the telly? Absolutely not! For even better fun, perhaps you should consider matching family pyjamas. You won't regret it!

2. Sticking the fire on

Nothing like lighting a fire (even if it is warm out) to get into that cosy frame of mind. It's all part of the ambience. Getting to warm up those little piggies is just super cute too.

3. Ice cream for dinner

Possibly the best part of a family movie night? THE GOODIES, of course. A tradition in our house is to have some seriously yummy ice-cream sandwiches. You, slices of HB Hazelbrook Farm, two wafers and you are all set. You cannot beat it.

4. The snoozer

No matter what, you can pretty much guarantee that someone will fall asleep while watching the TV. (Confession: It is usually me!)

5. Fighting over the remote.

Listen, at least one person will decide they want to change the film, which will result in the inevitable fight over the remote. Sure look, it's all part of the fun.

6. Grabbing the duvet.

Fancy getting even cosier? Run upstairs and bring down a few duvets - the kids will LOVE it. As will you!

7. Those pesky ads.

JUST when you are starting to get into the movie, and you're loving it - BAM, the ad break comes. As annoying as they are, you can use them as an excuse to go and get more treats and tea.

8. Pausing the movie.

When little ones are involved in a movie night, expect a number of toilet breaks. You will pause the film time and time again.

9. Ice cream run.

Chaos ensues when you realise that you're out of ice cream. Luckily, Dad is more than willing to leg it down to the shop to pick up more. No movie night is complete without ice cream, right?

10. Having to carry the kids to bed.

Honestly, this is one of our favourite parts of the night! Your little ones have tried so hard to stay awake for the whole movie, and they can barely keep their eyes open by the time it ends. You do the right thing, and carry them to bed and tuck them in. So cute.

These are the memories you are making with your own little family - ones that you will miss as they get older. There is a magic that it very hard to pinpoint but we are enjoying every moment these precious times with our little brood.
