A teenage girl has been left with life-changing injuries after a firework exploded in her hand. The incident took place on Barrack Street, Cork on Sunday afternoon.

 

It is believed she was rushed to Cork University Hospital where she underwent emergency surgery.

 

 

The young girl sustained serious injuries to her left hand and her face. It is believed she has suffered major damage to a number of her fingers.

 

A spokesperson for the Gardaí told the Irish Times: “[This is] a very sad life-changing event for this young girl”

 

Gardaí are currently investigating the incident and are currently focusing on where the young girl got the firework from.
